Fall Travel Essentials

With autumn around the corner my weekend travels start to become more abundant. Hubby and I are always searching for new little towns to visit to take in the changing foliage. Though I'm an avid planner, he is more of a go with the flow type and often surprises me with spur of the moment outings. So having a list of trip essentials in mind is key to quick and stress free packing.

First and foremost I never travel anywhere without this weekender bag. I purchased this tote last year before our trip to Maine and it was the perfect size for storing all my necessities and kept me from lugging my giant suitcase out each day. It has lots of different compartments which I also like for keeping everything organized. The second thing to always make it into my luggage is a blanket scarf. With warm days and chilly evenings fall is definitely a season of changing weather. Not only does this scarf add a stylish element to an otherwise basic outfit, but it will keep you warm and can even be used as a blanket to wrap up in. Comfort is of the utmost importance when exploring so a good pair of relaxed jeans and a casual tee are preferable. Even on day trips I always bring at least two pair of shoes. Ankle boots are my favorite and help dress up this casual look for shopping or dinner out. We are devoted outdoorsmen so more than likely we will find a hike or another outdoor adventure wherever we end up. Hiking boots or tennis shoes are primary on my checklist.

Hope this aids you in packing for your fall travels!

Fun Printed Romper

Cooler weather is on the horizon and this fun little romper is too cute not to add to your early fall wardrobe! Plus it's also currently on sale for $22! Score!! This season is all about the mixing of unexpected pairings. Try combining your flowy fitting dresses & rompers with more structured pieces like this utility vest, for a flawless layered look.

I just purchased this wool hat and can already tell that I'll be getting lots of wear out of it. The lighter taupe shade works well with almost everything and it's the perfect match for these great booties I scored during the #Nsale. Hope y'all are enjoying these autumn inspired looks because I have a lot more coming your way! I'm not one to wish away Summer but lets face it fall is by far the superior season to dress for, am I right? :)

Rocker Chic

Channeling my inner rocker chick for today's look. I've been obsessing over lace up details for months now so it was no surprise when I was drawn to this bodysuit. While the plunging neckline can be a little intimidating, paired with the right outfit this trendy item looks chic versus overly sexy. Once cooler temps reach us this suede jacket will be the perfect addition to your fall wardrobe! The longer length gives it lots of versatility. Wear alone as a dress or with a pair of faux leather leggings as a tunic. So many options ladies!

These Vince Camuto booties were my absolute favorite pair last season! That heel is killer, right? Though they aren't currently available online, Nordstrom always seems to get their best sellers from previous years back in-stock. I'll be keeping a look out and be sure to let you know as soon as they do! For now I've linked the peep toe version and a similar style below.

Trending for Fall

As fall is fast approaching, I'm switching up today's post and focusing on what styles, patterns and fabrics you can expect to see this season. All items pictured can be shopped in the widget proceeding their category.

Embroidery

Embroidery detailing will be taking over every accessory and apparel item you can think of this season. Though I'm absolutely loving this trend, subtlety is key here! When styling these pieces, remember they speak for themselves so pairing them with a more basic outfit is best. Another trend to be on the look out for is the embroidered guitar strap. Major designers like Fendi, Valentino and Gucci introduced this back in the Spring but with a price tag of $1,000+ for a handbag strap not really something the everyday girl can justify spending, am I right?? Thank goodness Rebecca Minkoff is rolling out her own line of these embellished add-ons for your bag. I have my heart set on the one pictured in the top right! I'm kicking myself because I recently found one of these in T.J. Maxx but was unsure if the style was really what I was looking for. Of course immediately after leaving the store I realized I had to have it! Haha It sold before I could get back. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out there, as should you if your looking for an inexpensive version of this designer item.

Chokers / Neckerchiefs / Skinny Scarves

Your neck will never go naked this fall. By far my favorite accessory as you may have noticed, chokers, neckerchiefs and all other adornments for your neck will be continuing there way into the Autumn season. They are officially the new statement necklace! Whatever look you are going for be sure to add this extra to all your outfits for the perfect "on trend" touch.

   Floral for Fall

I've mentioned this before but if you were unaware pretty floral prints are no longer just for spring and summer. This pattern is playing a big role in the cooler months as well. Think darker and more muted shades paired with leather jackets, pleated skirts and booties. Really want to be ahead of the curve? Style one of these floral pieces with bell sleeves, another of the moment silhouette.

Metallic & Velvet

Metallic accents and velvet elements are going to be all the rage! From super sophisticated to fun and casual sneaks, try combining metallic with your everyday wear for a chic look on an otherwise glitzy attire. I'm stepping out of my comfort zone by trying to incorporate velvet into my wardrobe this upcoming season. I've not really been a fan of this fabric in the past but with a great blazer like the one pictured above, I think it's worth giving it another try. I was not able to link the clutches and metallic bomber below but they are all from Zara and currently available online.

I hope you found this post to be useful! If you would like to see more articles like this let me know in the comments below! Hope y'all have a great day!

Sunflowers & Midi Dresses

This past week I had the opportunity to visit the most incredible sunflower farm! I'm talking acres upon acres of pick your own flowers. Other amenities included a sunflower maze, picnic tables and a quaint little gift shop offering local honey products and colorful vases. Not only will you be able to pick a pretty amazing bouquet but the possibilities for photo ops are endless. If you get the chance you should definitely check out Burnside Farms, Summer of Sunflowers festival in Haymarket, VA. They also host a tulip festival in the spring, that you can be sure I'll be returning for next year!

This gorgeous off the shoulder dress is both lightweight and breathable, which made it perfect for strolling through the fields on a hot summer day. I've been searching for a midi length, flowy dress for some time now and this one fit the bill. Plus it is currently on sale with up to an additional 20% off! It comes in a darker version as well that would be perfect for fall with a pair of booties. I was going for a 70's hippie inspired look for this outfit by pairing it with a chunky heel clog and choker necklace. You can shop my ensemble by clicking below.

Wishing you a great start to your week!
